A reimagining of the popular 1970s TV series about a female athlete who is given bionic strength.
I&#39;ve seen the pilot and have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. It&#39;s true that the writing could be better, but I&#39;m sure that will improve as everyone on the show limbers up for the job. I&#39;m glad that NBC did the show instead of SciFi - the effects are good, the cast has some budget behind it (which makes a huge difference in terms of quality), and if you&#39;re a fan of BSG you&#39;ll get to see some of your favorite character actors from that show as well.<br/><br/>I&#39;m a fan of this kind of show (Buffy, Dark Angel, Nikita, etc.) and think that the pilot promises that the new Bionic Woman will easily be just as good as Dark Angel, Nikita, and Alias (and probably better than all three). It would need a radical overhaul of the writing staff to be as good as Buffy, and some Jaime-allies to round out the ensemble.<br/><br/>Overall, I highly recommend that you tune in for at least the first three episodes - I think this might be really good.
BAD BAD BAD and BAD. Here is why; 1st on comparing this to the original. It is like watching your best friend die. The kept the name, and combined SMDM&#39;s parts in.<br/><br/>However, they removed the spark that made the show. The softness and the innocents that made Jamie. Now we have a 24 y/o bartender, who rather show more interest in the BF then in the fact she has a sister who is 15 (who looks 30) and seems to be having trouble.<br/><br/>Now given the fact that this is the first show. And trust me they speed it up. One minute dinner next minute she is screaming about the legs.<br/><br/>It doesn&#39;t tell us anything about her, we have to hear it second hand.<br/><br/>So we went from a show that was fun to watch and had action to a show that is about DRAMA, which matches Lost, Heroes, and Battlestar. The bionic parts are just extra.<br/><br/>Now the show is set darkly, and I was waiting for a Viper to appear, because the direction of the show is TOO MUCH like Battlestar.<br/><br/>2nd the special effects.<br/><br/>I am sorry, the effects are SO 5th rate, that a 7 year old could have done it with Photoshop. You can see in the preview that the legs are not proportionate to the body. However, I couldn&#39;t stop laughing when she ran. She looks like a puppet on strings. There was nothing remotely normal in the look. Again, CGI is good when used in small dosages. You can learn a lot from the failure of Lucas&#39;s movies to see that. When you remove an actor completely, and think you have a software program that can do better, well you&#39;re wrong.<br/><br/>The only spoiler I will mention is not really a spoiler, more of segment concept that you can get from one of the previews.<br/><br/>When she is running along side the car, I dare you not to laugh.<br/><br/>(To the FX guy, try having the actor run at top speed at the location, then increase the speed of play back but to give the illusion of speed. Because you made the actor look like she was the road runner.) So in closing, I have to say that they killed the Bionic Women. I am sorry to see her go. However, this is what happens when you change too much of establish lore. You need to think before you decide to make a female hero in culture a soap opera. It is not a good idea.<br/><br/>Bad NBC!
